This blog is for everyone who is looking for a simpler explanation of what AI is all about and what does all those buzz words mean in the world of AI. We are listing some of the very common terminologies used in AI discussions
Let us start with the most basic one called AI also known as Artificial Intelligence. Intelligence itself has many definitions in science, philosophy and phsycology. It is described as an ability to think, plan, execute, learn, understand and so much more. Artificial Intelligence is the intelligence that humans are trying to recreate into machines or computers. AI is a very broad term in its own.
Some people say its AI until you haven’t cracked it. Once you can, it is just coding.
So, how does AI being developed. What do we use to make computers capable enough to self learn. One of the most commonly heard technique is called Machine Learning. We will get into more details of Machine Learning in coming blogs.
Back to AI, it is not a new thing that just dropped on to us all of a sudden. There have been some things which we adapted in our daily life which were Intelligent to some extent.
Remember Alexa or Siri or Cortana; by asking questions to those assistants in our smartphones or laptops, we have already been training and evolving them. Look at self driving cars, they have been intelligent enough to process routes, road conditions, road blocks and to some extent, some emergency situations. All of these things are examples of Narrow AI.
A more advanced level of this kind of intelligence is Generative AI. This is a kind of AI where high quality text, images, data or other type of content can be created by training on huge set of data. The main difference between Generative AI and Traditional AI is, this new domain can create data based on the large dataset it has been provided. If you are interested to go into more details of how this works, take a look at Markov Model. A most basic example is the autocomplete words in a email or text editor programms. The words are predicted based on previous word or words.A more advanced level of this kind of intelligence is Generative AI. In more advanced world, ChatGPT by OpenAI or LLAMA by Meta are the tools designed for this purpose. ChatGPT for example, has been fed large amount of data from the internet and it can
generate new Inputs on the prompts based on that dataset.
In the end, remember this is just the start of your journey with us. We will explore more about Machine Learning and GenAI short form of (Generative AI) in coming weeks and see how this domain of AI is revolutionzing tech industry today.
